The San Carlos Apache Tribe Education Department Staff
The Head Start program services every eligible child of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, including programming aimed at the unique needs of vulnerable children and families. It is the objective of the program that every child who attends reaps the lifelong benefits of early childhood education.
The Job Placement program of the San Carlos Apache offers assistance to those members of the community looking to attend vocational schools with certificate programs.
The Adult Education program for the San Carlos Apache seeks to help members of the community who stepped away from attaining their high school diploma for whatever reason. The G.E.D. program represents an opportunity to these members for college, trade school, or a new career and equips participants to flourish with tools for the rest of their life.
Johnson-O’Malley seeks to provide cultural enrichment and other services not available to eligible children through the school district alone. The grant is designed to meet the unique and specialized needs of students and parents to help them achieve educational success.
Our expectation is that by implementing the Apache Language Curriculum, the students of San Carlos will learn to communicate in Apache so they may carry on the Apache language, traditions, and culture to prevent them from becoming lost. The students within the community will be able to speak, understand, and identify with both the Apache Language and Culture.
Through the allocation of funds to members who demonstrate need, the Higher Education program enables San Carlos Apache students to attend any university or college to which they are admitted regardless of personal financial resources.
The goal of the Pathway to College: Success Through Education Project is to prepare San Carlos Apache students so they master the Arizona Academic Standards; are prepared for, enroll, and succeed in postsecondary educational programs; and apply their learning both in their studies and to everyday life so they are personally and academically prepared for the 21st century.
